A local record, kept open.

WhyTrashTahoe started during informal cleanup hikes. The project makes room for both the immediate work of picking something up and the slower work of reading the record around a place.

It helped lead to WhyTrashEarth, while remaining a distinct Tahoe-focused archive and work in progress. The standard is straightforward: state what is known, link to sources when possible, and keep unanswered questions visible as questions.
